Job Opening: Editor in Chief of Hawaii Business Magazine, locally owned and committed to Hawai‘i’s future
As we celebrate our 70th anniversary, Hawaii Business Magazine is looking for a dynamic editor to lead our reporters, contributing writers and readers into the next era of print and digital publishing and in-person events. Make a difference and help create a better future for Hawai‘i.
What You’ll Do
- Lead with Vision: Oversee editorial direction, ensuring our stories, newsletters and events stay engaging and relevant to people across the Hawaiian Islands.
- Collaborate and Elevate: Lead a four-person editorial team and collaborate with your colleagues at Hawaii Business and its sister companies in design, digital, sales and events.
- Turns Ideas into Compelling Stories: Engage with diverse people, businesses and communities around Hawai‘i so you can develop story ideas and assign them, write and edit the articles, and oversee publication in print, online and in our newsletters.
What We’re Looking For
- Experienced Professional: 10+ years in journalism, preferably with time in leadership roles and business reporting.
- Understands and Loves Hawai‘i: Someone immersed in local current events and history who thrives amid Hawai‘i’s diverse people and communities.
- Creative Storyteller: A writer and editor who can captivate readers with their own stories and by helping shape the stories of others.
- Digital Savvy: Knowledgeable about connecting with digital audiences.

Board Operator, ESPN Honolulu
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
If you love sports and want to be involved with live sports radio broadcasts, apply for a position as a board operator for ESPN Honolulu and CBS 1500. We are hiring an on-call board operator in our downtown Honolulu studio supporting live radio broadcasts of sporting events and sports talk radio programs. This position reports to the Program Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate our state-of-the-art broadcast studio equipment to carry out live radio programs
- Cue on-air talent for the scheduled radio broadcast elements including commercial breaks, live remotes, guest interviews and listener phone calls
- Answer listener phone calls and place calls on air
- Play pre-recorded content including music, commercials, public service announcements, recorded interviews, or scheduled news feeds and traffic alerts
- Ensure all broadcasts comply with FCC regulations
- Assist with radio remote broadcasts
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficiency with audio equipment, audio processing, and Microsoft Office 365 applications
PREFERRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience with broadcast radio or TV production
COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
This position is an on-call position with a varying work schedule (subject to change). Compensation is $15/hour.

BlowUp, a division of aio Media Group, is comprised of community-driven radio stations ESPN Honolulu (KKEA) and CBS 1500 (KHKA). Our goal is to capture and share moments in sports in hopes of lifting spirits and bringing the Hawai’i community together. We are the flagship stations for University of Hawai’i Athletics and broadcast a variety of local and national sporting events.
